Job Description
Irving Shipbuilding is seeking a Senior Architectural Engineering Technician to join our Facilities Capital team. In this role, you'll be the go‑to expert for managing and maintaining record documentation across all Irving Shipbuilding facilities and equipment assets. You'll work with both 2D and 3D CAD software, support key engineering and maintenance initiatives, and play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, and integrity of facility information.

Responsibilities
Record Documentation & Design
Deliver drafting support to the Facilities Capital Department.
Develop and maintain 3D models and 2D design drawings for facilities infrastructure.
Support the Maintenance team by tagging new and existing infrastructure assets.
Collaborate with Facility Engineers on project scope development, design requirements, and planning.
Information Management
Manage and continually improve the Facilities Information Centre filing system.
Ensure easy and reliable access to all facility‑related documentation.
Serve as the primary contact for locating facility drawings and technical information.
Support project closeout processes by ensuring timely turnover of as‑built drawings, O&M manuals, and equipment specifications.
Monitor compliance with Irving Shipbuilding's Facility Engineering CAD Standards.
Field Inspections
Conduct on‑site inspections to verify and update red‑line drawings.
Maintain accurate building layout and general arrangement drawings.
Keep record drawings up to date to support safe maintenance, operations, and facility development.
Qualifications
Architectural Engineering Technician Diploma (or equivalent related discipline).
10+ years' experience in engineering, construction, or complex industrial/manufacturing environments.
Relevant professional accreditation (e.g., C.Tech, CET, PMP).
Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
Broad understanding of multidisciplinary design and construction practices.
Expert skills in 2D & 3D design, engineering standards, and interpreting technical drawings.
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
