We need a clean, reliable data stream where sessions are correctly attributed from start to finish.
The Problem (Current State)
- Data Fragmentation: A large portion of our session data is unassigned (not set).
Consent & Tracking Conflicts: We suspect our Cookie Consent management is interfering with the initial hit, causing "orphaned" events that lack session metadata.
Environment Challenges: High traffic from In-App browsers (Facebook, Instagram) and mobile devices is leading to session breaks and attribution loss.
Technical Debt: High JavaScript error rates and potential race conditions in the Tag Manager are likely preventing tags from firing in the correct sequence.
Scope of Work & Expectations
The expert is expected to take full ownership of the tracking architecture:
Comprehensive Audit: Perform a deep-dive audit of the GTM container, GA4 configuration, and DataLayer health. Identify exactly where the "data leak" happens.
Architecture Repair: Re-configure the tracking logic to ensure that every session—regardless of the browser (Safari ITP, Facebook In-App, etc.)—starts with a complete set of attribution parameters.
Error Mitigation: Debug and resolve script conflicts and JavaScript errors that block or delay tracking pixels.
Cross-Platform Consistency: Ensure that GA4, GTM, and 3rd party tools (like Clarity/Meta Pixel) receive consistent, validated data.
Deliverables
A fully functional, "not set"-free GA4 reporting environment (within industry-standard margins).
Documentation of the new tracking logic and DataLayer structure.
- A validation report showing that sessions are being correctly tracked from entry to conversion.
