Job Description We are currently seeking a dependable and experienced Superintendent / Heavy Duty Cleaner to join our team at a residential condominium building in Whitby. This position plays a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the property's common areas.
The ideal candidate is hardworking, detail-oriented, and takes pride in keeping the building in excellent condition for residents and visitors.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities: As a Superintendent / Heavy Duty Cleaner, you will be responsible for the daily upkeep of the building, including but not limited to:
Cleaning & Maintenance of Common Areas:
- Deep cleaning of lobbies, hallways, stairwells, elevators, and amenity spaces.
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting high-touch surfaces.
- Floor care including scrubbing, buffing, and spot treatment as required.
- Cleaning and maintaining garbage rooms and disposal areas.
- Assisting with waste removal and ensuring proper recycling practices.
- Reporting issues such as overflow, odors, or sanitation concerns.
- Seasonal cleaning such as salt removal, power washing, or deep scrubbing.
- Handling special cleaning requests and emergency spills.
- Operating commercial cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
- Monitoring building conditions and reporting maintenance concerns.
- Supporting property management with minor building-related tasks.
- Responding professionally to resident inquiries when needed.
- Following WHMIS and safe chemical handling procedures.
- Ensuring all cleaning is completed according to safety and sanitation standards.
- Maintaining a clean and organized janitorial storage area.
- Previous experience in condo, commercial, or heavy-duty cleaning preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physically capable of lifting, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
