Job Description:
The Border Patrol Agent will be responsible for detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws, inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations. Typical assignments include patrolling international boundaries, preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of noncitizens, performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, transportation checks, etc.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must have one (1) year general work experience that demonstrates ability to take charge make sound decisions maintain composure in stressful situations; learn regulations methods techniques through classroom training instruction gather concise information through questioning observation examination documents records OR possess bachelor degree education substitution superior academic achievement graduate-level education related field OR combination general work experience college education calculated resume official unofficial transcripts submitted application.
The GL-7 grade level requires specialized work experience showing skills necessary: make sound judgments decisions use firearms deal effectively people courteous manner connection law enforcement matters analyze rapidly prompt decisions arrests required training apply skills criminal code correctional rehabilitation security military other fields.
