The role of a Customs and Border Protection Officer involves enforcing laws related to customs, immigration, and agriculture. This includes:

• Conducting inspections of individuals, cargo, and conveyances.
• Evaluating the admissibility of foreign nationals seeking entry into the United States.

In addition to these responsibilities, specialists also work towards preventing human trafficking, smuggling goods illegally into or out of the country, as well as controlling diseases by ensuring compliance with regulations regarding animal products.
