A growing multi disciplinary practice based in Manchester City Centre is seeking an ambitious Trainee Solicitor or Paralegal to join its expanding legal team. The firm specialises in financial mis selling, housing disrepair and business energy claims and is currently experiencing significant growth.The successful candidate will have at least one year of litigation experience, including housing disrepair pre litigation experience, and some exposure to managing their own caseload. Files will be handled under the supervision of a qualified solicitor. Following successful completion of a six month probationary period, the candidate will be eligible for consideration for a training contract, with the potential for the probationary period to count towards the overall training contract term. Key Responsibilities
  • Managing a housing disrepair pre litigation caseload, progressing to litigated matters
  • Preparing and submitting claims and issuing proceedings where appropriate
  • Drafting legal documents, correspondence and instructions to counsel and experts
  • Conducting legal research and liaising with clients and third parties
  • Maintaining accurate file management and high standards of client care
  • Supporting with general administrative duties as required
Requirements
  • Law graduate preferred
  • LPC, ILEX or working towards a similar qualification
  • Essential housing disrepair pre litigation experience
  • Knowledge of general litigation processes
  • Confident communication skills and professional telephone manner
  • Experience using Proclaim or a similar case management system
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines
  • Proactive and motivated team player
