The Facilities & Project Manager is responsible for ensuring Canaccord Genuity's office environments are professional, safe, and operationally excellent while leading real estate, construction, and facilities-related projects across Western Canada. This role combines hands-on facilities management with end-to-end project management oversight, including office builds, renovations, and landlord-led initiatives. Reporting to the VP, Real Estate & Facilities, the role is critical in delivering high-quality workplace solutions through strong vendor management, attention to detail, and disciplined project execution.
Responsibilities:
Oversee daily facilities operations for the Vancouver office, supporting approximately 480 employees.
Lead and manage construction, renovation, and workplace improvement projects, from planning and budgeting through execution and close-out.
Act as the primary point of contact for landlords, property managers, contractors, consultants, and vendors.
As the most senior Facilities professional in the Vancouver office, oversee the day-to-day activities of Facilities and Office Services team members, providing guidance, support, and a can-do approach to resolving conflicts and addressing operational issues.
Foster a service-oriented, detail-driven team culture focused on responsiveness, accountability, and quality.
Conduct facility and site assessments to identify maintenance needs and capital improvement requirements.
Support occupancy planning initiatives, including expansions, relocations, restacks, and workspace setups for new hires.
Coordinate landlord and vendor activities related to base building work, tenant improvements, and compliance requirements.
Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, trades, consultants, and service providers, ensuring service levels, timelines, and budgets are met.
Manage service contracts, RFPs, vendor sourcing, negotiations, and ongoing performance evaluation.
Track and manage project budgets, schedules, scopes, and risks, ensuring cost control and timely delivery.
Ensure compliance with building codes, health and safety regulations, emergency preparedness standards, and internal policies.
Prepare detailed status reports and documentation for projects, initiatives, and issue resolution.
Support facilities and project needs across Western Canada, with travel as required.
Monitor industry trends, workplace standards, and real estate best practices to proactively recommend improvements.
Maintain office appearance, functionality, and hospitality standards that create a professional and welcoming environment for employees and clients.
Coordinate internal communications related to construction activities, relocations, building operations, and service disruptions.
Skills & Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in facilities management, construction project management, real estate, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience managing construction or real estate-related projects (office builds, renovations, or tenant improvements).
Proven ability to work with landlords, property managers, contractors, consultants and a wide range of vendors.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously.
Demonstrated leadership experience. Direct management of teams or cross-functional project resources is a bonus.
Solid understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety) and construction processes.
Strong customer service mindset with a practical, solutions-oriented approach.
Highly organized with strong budgeting, scheduling, and documentation skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; AutoCAD or project management software is an asset.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and regulatory compliance in a corporate or commercial real estate environment.
Flexibility to work outside regular office hours as required for construction activities or after-hours maintenance.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Willingness to travel to other locations as required (approximately 15%).
Formal training or background in Project Management, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or Interior Design is a strong asset.
