About the Company
Brewis Electric is an electrical contractor that has experienced significant expansion over the past several years. With this growth comes the need for a seasoned financial leader to elevate their financial operations. They are now seeking a Controller who can provide oversight, improve financial structure, and support continued growth.
Position Overview
The Controller will be responsible for the full financial management of the company, including accounting operations, reporting, cash flow oversight, financial planning, and compliance. This role will work closely with ownership and operational leaders to ensure the company maintains strong financial health as it grows.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee cash flow management, ensuring adequate liquidity for operations and upcoming commitments.
Develop tools and forecasting models to monitor and optimize working capital.
Manage and review accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and strong internal controls.
Oversee project invoicing, including tracking, holdbacks, reconciliation of billings, and ensuring alignment with contract terms.
Complete monthly bank reconciliations and oversee general ledger integrity.
Monitor bank covenants and maintain strong lender relationships.
Perform debt service ratio calculations and ensure timely reporting to financial institutions.
Build and maintain multi‑division financial models to support revenue tracking, margin analysis, and long‑range forecasting.
Provide leadership with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages.
Identify trends, improve cost efficiencies, and support data‑driven decision-making.
Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant legislation.
Support HR in administrative functions (hiring paperwork, onboarding, record management); HR experience considered a strong asset.
Strengthen and modernize internal financial processes, documentation, and reporting systems.
Qualification, Skills and Experience:
5+ years progressive experience in an accounting related role
CPA designation (or in progress) is a strong asset but not mandatory depending on experience.
Strong understanding of full‑cycle accounting, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting.
Experience with multi‑division or project‑based businesses (construction, trades, engineering, professional services, etc.) highly beneficial.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting/ERP systems.
Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
