About The Role
The Senior Social Strategist leads development and execution of social strategy for an automotive client, with ownership of strategic initiatives, client-facing presentations, and team direction. Combining audience insight, creative leadership, and platform expertise, this role shapes how the brand shows up across social channels, focusing on increasing brand awareness, improving marketing efforts, and enhancing sales and performance. The Senior Social Strategist mentors junior team members, directs cross‑functional workstreams, and engages directly with client project teams and leadership with minimal oversight. You should have excellent multitasking and prioritization skills to handle all our social media accounts in a cohesive way.
Responsibilities
Strategy Development: Design paid social media strategies and organic social media plans to achieve marketing targets for our automotive clients
Own end-to-end paid and organic social strategies aligned to brand objectives, KPIs, audience, voice, and business goals with support from strategy directors.
Develop platform-specific social media strategies for long-form, short-form, and interactive content across channels.
Stay up-to-date with new digital technologies and social media best practices in the automotive industry
Program Development: Lead development of comprehensive social programs (campaigns, launch plans, ongoing content ecosystems) that integrate cultural trends, competitive intelligence, industry best practices, and media performance.
Client Engagement: Present strategic thinking and program roadmaps to client project teams and client leadership; translate business priorities into clear social plans and recommendations.
Team Direction: Guide and review work from writers, designers and junior strategists to ensure content is on-strategy, on-brand, and platform-optimized.
Industry & Platform Expertise: Maintain deep knowledge of emerging platforms, formats, and social trends in the automotive space and advise on strategic adoption.
Audience Expertise: Identify audience behaviours, content trends, and cultural moments relevant to the brand.
Buzz-Building: Collaborate with Marketing and Product development teams to create social 'buzz' regarding new vehicle launches and brand initiatives
Strategic Briefing: Provide senior-level briefs, strategic POVs, and performance-driven recommendations to inform creative development and channel tactics that answer clients' business challenges and requests.
Campaign Oversight: Oversee publishing calendars (in collaboration with Content + Community Managers), campaign execution, and audience strategies to ensure cohesive brand storytelling
Test & Learn: Champion and test new formats, emerging platforms, and innovative approaches to drive engagement and growth.
Network & Partnerships: Communicate with industry professionals via social media to create a strong network and stay informed about automotive trends
Performance Leadership: Drive analysis of social analytics to uncover audience behaviour, content resonance, and opportunity areas; translate insights into strategic pivots and growth plans.
Reporting: Produce and present executive-level reports that connect social performance to business outcomes and recommended next steps.
Optimization: Track performance metrics and optimize strategies based on insights and experimentation.
Trend Analysis: Analyze social analytics to uncover trends, behavioural insights, and areas for opportunity.
Client Relationship Management: Act as a primary strategic point of contact on projects, facilitating regular strategy sessions and reviews
Mentorship: Coach and develop junior strategists and cross-functional contributors, providing feedback, career guidance, and quality assurance on deliverables.
Process & Training: Establish best practices, playbooks, and internal training to maintain a cohesive social strategy across all brand accounts.
About You
The essentials:
5+ years experience in social strategy, with a demonstrated track record leading strategies for automotive brands (or equivalent high-consideration categories).
Proven ability to lead and present complex social programs to both internal stakeholders and client leadership.
Hands-on familiarity with social platforms, paid social ad ecosystems, and content production pipelines.
Strong analytic skills and proficiency with social analytics and reporting tools; experience defining KPIs and measurement frameworks.
Deep understanding of audience insights, cultural trends, and community behaviors relevant to luxury automotive consumers.
Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Excellent multitasking skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously
Experience mentoring and managing junior talent and leading cross-functional teams.
BS degree in Marketing or relevant field
Strong understanding of the automotive industry and its unique social media challenges

Fluency in English (additional language skills are a plus)

Monks has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what Monks may pay for the position at the time of posting. Monks may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on job-related factors, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
