Gift from the Heart (GFTH) is a registered Canadian charity dedicated to connecting vulnerable individuals with crucial oral health care services. Based in Trenton, Ontario, GFTH operates a Mobile Dental Trailer and an Outreach Dental Clinic, providing preventive, restorative, and emergency dental care to those who face significant barriers to accessing treatment. The organization partners with programs like OW, ODSP, and CDCP and helps patients access necessary treatments, including dentures and oral health therapies. Since its founding in 2008, GFTH has remained committed to promoting access to dental care as a basic human right, fostering healthier and more confident communities across Canada. Through its dedicated network of volunteers and community collaborators, GFTH continues to provide life-changing services to those in need.
Role Description
This position as a Dental Assistant involves assisting dental practitioners in providing quality care to patients. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and sterilizing dental instruments and equipment, assisting during dental procedures, providing oral care instructions to patients, and ensuring a clean and organized clinical environment.
Qualifications
Experience or knowledge in Dental Care, Dentistry, and Oral Care
Proficiency in Sterilization procedures and infection control protocols
Competence in Dental Assisting, including preparing instruments and assisting during procedures
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to provide patient-focused care
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team
Commitment to serving vulnerable communities and helping individuals access essential dental care
Previous experience in a nonprofit or volunteer setting is a plus
Certification in dental assisting or relevant training is an asset
