Job Description

Reporting to the Process Engineer, the Process Engineer Co-op provides technical leadership to optimize cost, quality, productivity and reliability. This would include leading teams of hourly employees and staff to develop SOP's. The candidate should have practical experience in continuous improvement.

When you join us you will:

  • Assessing processes for their relevance and assessing the adequacy of engineering equipment.
  • Designing, installing and commissioning new production units, monitoring modifications and upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processes.
  • Assessing the availability of raw materials and the safety and environmental impact of the plant.
  • Working closely with the plant engineer to monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of a plant.
  • Ensuring the process works at the optimum level, to the right rate and quality of output, in order to meet supply needs.
  • Making observations and taking measurements directly, as well as collecting and interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff involved.
  • Develop and implement standardized processes to improve operational efficiency.
  • Conduct audits and implement 5S methodologies across the plant to enhance workplace organization and efficiency.
  • Assuming responsibility for environmental monitoring and ongoing performance of plant processes
  • Working closely with the operators and staff who oversee quality control of raw materials, finished products, plant maintenance, product specifications and production schedules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering
  • A good understanding of TQM and TPM and how to implement
  • Basic detail and conceptual design skills
  • Manages projects within cost and scheduling constraints
  • Monitoring and process reports
  • Project implementation skills from initial planning stages to completion
  • Computer skills (Please specify what programs/software candidate must be proficient with) – AutoCAD, knowledge of PLC's preferred (ControlLogix/ RS logic)
