The Structural Technical Coordinator will support the design and coordination of structural elements within transit facilities, including subway stations, elevated structures, and associated architectural interfaces. This role ensures that structural designs meet project requirements, constructability standards, and integrate seamlessly with other disciplines. The position involves close collaboration with design consultants, construction teams, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues and maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory standards.

Job Description

  • Coordinate structural design deliverables for stations and facilities, ensuring alignment with architectural and systems requirements.

  • Review structural design submissions for compliance with project specifications, constructability, and applicable codes.

  • Support resolution of design interfaces between structural works and other disciplines (civil, architectural, utilities).

  • Provide technical guidance to construction teams on structural aspects during design and construction phases, including temporary works and safety considerations.

  • Participate in design coordination meetings with designers, client representatives, and stakeholders, ensuring timely communication of design issues and resolutions.

  • Verify that structural designs meet Output Specifications and regulatory requirements, and support documentation and approvals for structural works (e.g., shop drawings, RFIs).

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide mentorship to junior engineers as needed

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in structural design coordination or related roles.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Ontario preferred.
  • Strong understanding of structural design principles and construction practices for transit facilities.
  • Familiarity with Canadian building codes and transit infrastructure standards.
  • Experience in large-scale infrastructure or transit projects is an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate across disciplines effectively.
  • Proficiency in structural design software and MS Office; knowledge of AutoCAD and project EDMS systems (e.g., Aconex) preferred.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Valid Canadian driver's license.
