Location
This position is required to work in person at various sites across the City. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Aquatics, this position supervises aquatic programming and facility operations for RCC through developing, planning, administration, promoting, implementing new or revised aquatic programs, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the aquatic facility. Liaisons with the community, volunteers, city staff regarding facility program needs
Responsibilities
•Ensure adherence to safety regulations and that staff certifications
remain current.
•Conduct training sessions, schedule lifeguard rotations, and address
risks associated with daily operations to maintain a safe aquatic
environment.
•Implement protocols for addressing risks, ensuring that staff respond
effectively to emergencies.
Provide day-to-day supervision of section staff including recruitment,
guidance, performance management, and recognition.
Oversee program documentation, including staff files, and enforce
quality assurance measures for safety and program standards. Evaluate
program effectiveness and make recommendations for changes.
Develop and monitor seasonal schedules, ensuring program capacity
aligns with demand.
Coordinate with community aquatics programs including Lifesaving
Society events, drowning prevention campaigns, and specialized
aquatic activities.
Deliver a high standard of customer service, responding to and
resolving inquiries and issues.
Maintain community relationships, promote program participation and work to enhance customer satisfaction.
Meet established key accountability indictor targets and monitor and identify aquatics programming trends and community needs to improve the aquatics experience.
Duties and responsibilities are inclusive but not limited to the above.
Requirements
Education : Completion of a College Diploma in Leisure Services Management, or related field. Current Lifesaving Instructor, Lifesaving Swim Instructor, Lifesaving Emergency First Aid Instructor, Standard First Aid, National Lifeguard OR National Lifeguard Instructor/ Examiner, Airway Management, HIGH FIVE, and Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certifications are required.
Experience : Over 2, up to 4 years of related experience.
