Title: Facilities & Property Support Technician
Reports To: Trade Show Manager (Contract)
Job Purpose: Reporting to the Trade Show Manager, the Facilities & Property Support Technician is responsible for providing hands-on, day-to-day support for the maintenance, upkeep, and improvement of private family residences and associated facilities, including barn properties used for both personal and business-related activities. This role ensures that all ad hoc personal and professional property needs are addressed efficiently, safely, and with a high standard of workmanship, enabling family and business operations to run smoothly. The position requires a versatile, mechanically inclined individual who can take direction, communicate clearly, and manage a wide variety of maintenance, repair, and support tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities & Property Maintenance: Perform general maintenance, repairs, and installations across private residences and barn facilities. Install, replace, and repair appliances, fixtures, hardware, and equipment. Complete basic carpentry and woodshop-related tasks, including building, modifying, or installing structures and components. Conduct routine inspections and identify preventative maintenance needs.
Grounds & Exterior Work: Maintain outdoor areas including lawn cutting, weeding, trimming trees and shrubs, and general property upkeep. Perform seasonal and weather-related maintenance tasks as required. Ensure properties remain safe, clean, and presentable.
Project & Ad Hoc Support: Execute ad hoc maintenance and improvement projects as assigned. Support trade show setup, breakdown, and related logistical tasks when required. Source materials, obtain quotes, coordinate vendors or contractors, and monitor work to completion. Communicate project status, timelines, and any issues or risks proactively. Where a company credit card is utilized, ensure purchases are pre-approved as required, accurately coded to the appropriate GL accounts in the U.S. Bank system, and supported by itemized receipts and clear business justification in accordance with company policy.
Communication & Coordination: Take direction primarily from the Trade Show Manager and provide regular updates on task progress. Clearly communicate findings, recommendations, and next steps for maintenance or repair issues. Flag urgent issues, safety concerns, or delays in a timely manner.
Transportation & Logistics: Drive family or company vehicles for service runs, supply pickups, and project-related needs. Transport tools, equipment, and materials safely between locations.
Health, Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety procedures when using tools, equipment, and vehicles. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Report safety hazards, damage, or risks immediately.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical training, apprenticeship, or trade-related coursework considered an asset
3–5 years of hands-on experience in property maintenance, facilities support, general maintenance, or a similar multi-skilled role
Valid driver's license (required)
WHMIS and basic Health & Safety training (required or willing to obtain)
Trade-specific certification (e.g., carpentry, electrical, mechanical) considered an asset but not required.
Basic proficiency with email and mobile communication tools
Ability to use scheduling, task tracking, or basic project management tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, mobile apps)
