Verafin -Senior Software Developer (Lakehouse Implementation and Performance)

We're looking for a Senior Software Developer  to join our Data Platform  team. In this position, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and upkeep of our data warehousing framework. You will get the opportunity to work closely with a variety of internal teams to implement scalable and efficient data processing and warehousing solutions, while ensuring the availability and reliability of our data pipelines. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the progress of our data platform and analytics capabilities.

What You'll Do  

• Design and develop scalable data processing solutions using big data technologies. 

 
• Build and maintain robust data pipelines to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability. 

 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features and optimize performance. 

 
• Monitor and troubleshoot distributed systems to maintain high availability. 

 
• Participate in code reviews and drive continuous improvement in development practices. 

What You'll Bring  

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience. 

 
• 2+ years of software development experience. 

 
• Strong programming skills in Scala or Java. 

 
• Experience building pipelines for large-scale structured and unstructured data. 

 
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills in collaborative environments 

Nice to Have  

• Experience with AWS cloud and big data tools like EMR or Apache Spark. 

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform. 

 
• Knowledge of distributed computing and database technologies (relational and non-relational). 

 
• Familiarity with AI, data science, or intelligent systems 

This position can be located in St. John's or Toronto, and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment (3 days a week in office) , providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates
