Role ResponsibilitiesThe ALA Strategic Services Division within the Ministry of ALSS is seeking highly skilled and motivated Senior Policy Analysts to join the team. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Projects, the role provides leadership, strategic advice, and high‑level policy analysis to advance the Ministry's objectives of improving assisted living, strengthening service integration, and aligning health and social services across Alberta.
The Senior Policy Analyst leads and supports complex, high‑priority initiatives—such as assisted living reform, health system modernization, workforce planning, and integrated service delivery. The role collaborates extensively with internal divisions, health system partners, cross‑ministry colleagues, and external stakeholders to develop forward‑looking, evidence‑based policy solutions that enable a sustainable and responsive assisted living system for Albertans.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, review, evaluation, and implementation of provincial policies and strategic initiatives related to Assisted Living and Social Services.
- Ensure policy alignment and coherence across health and social services to improve outcomes, support integration, and strengthen system sustainability.
- Provide strategic, evidence-informed advice to senior leadership and executives on system transformation, service redesign, and policy integration.
- Collaborate with delivery divisions, health system partners, and external stakeholders to shape policy directions that align with government priorities.
- Manage and support high‑priority and high‑complexity projects, balancing evolving system and delivery realities while ensuring timely achievement of objectives.
- Represent the Ministry on interdepartmental and external committees, working groups, and stakeholder forums to advance shared health and social outcomes.
- Apply strategic foresight, critical thinking, and flexibility to address complex challenges and contribute to innovative and integrated service models.

Minimum Requirements:
- University graduation in a related field (e.g., Public Policy/Health, Social Sciences, Political Science) plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience.
- Significant experience in policy development, strategic planning, or project management, preferably within government or public sector settings.
- Strong understanding of health and social service systems, including assisted living and integrated service delivery models.
- Proven ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders, executives, and cross-sector partners.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Knowledge of evidence-based policy development and experience in managing complex initiatives is an asset.

Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
