Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000

Placement within the range is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity. 

Hours per week: 37.5

Paid leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year

SAIT is looking for a Treasury Analyst to join our Finance Department

Treasury Analyst is responsible for investment accounting and related treasury operations that support SAIT's investment portfolio and banking activities.

Reporting to the Director, Financial Services, the Analyst prepares and analyzes financial information and provides timely, accurate reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

The role works alongside the Senior Treasury Analyst to support key treasury and banking functions, including cash management, banking transactions, reconciliations, and internal controls. It also involves working closely with internal stakeholders to facilitate efficient treasury processes and resolve accounting or operational issues.

In addition, this role liaises with external investment advisors, investment managers, and banking partners to support account access, transaction execution, and reporting.

How you'll contribute
  • Treasury accounting and reporting:
  • Act as the steward of SAIT's investment processes through coordinating recordkeeping for investments and ensuring policy criteria is met.
  • Support the Senior Treasury Analyst in advising internal stakeholders on appropriate accounting and controls around investments and endowments.
  • Evaluate investment and banking data to ensure adequate information is provided for appropriate accounting, monitoring, and accountability reporting.
  • Compile and analyze investment income, bank charges, investment manager fees, and other budgets and forecasts.
  • Financial reporting and analysis:
  • Support the Senior Treasury Analyst in the analysis and quality control activities related to cash, investments, debt, foreign exchange, and employee liabilities.
  • Prepare and analyze various financial deliverables as required 
  • Support auditing processes with the appropriate resources as required.
  • Support other Analysts within the section to provide continuity of service during absences and peak periods as required.
  • Governance support:
  • Maintain signing authorities for banking, investing, borrowing and other related services.
  • Support maintenance of SAIT policies and procedures related to Treasury activities.
  • Collect, review, and test compliance documentation.
  • Best practices and business process improvement:
  • Ensure institutional compliance with industry best practices and government regulations. 
  • Stay current on approaches to financial management and processes through continued professional development.
What you bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Economics or similar field.
  • 1-3 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably at a financial or public sector institution.
  • CPA certification required.
  • Completion of or candidacy in CFA Program would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and in-depth understanding of capital markets and interest in investments.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
