Join our innovative Mobile Apps team as a Software Engineer Intern for Summer 2026! You'll get hands-on experience shipping code that enhances the American Family Insurance mobile apps. Partnering with experienced engineers, you will help build and deploy features that directly improve our customers' experience. Primary Accountabilities
• Collaborate with senior engineers to design, build, and ship new features for our Android mobile application.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate and enhance backend services that power the mobile user experience.
• Gain exposure to the full software development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Present your project accomplishments and learnings to team members and leadership at the end of your internship.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
• Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Solid foundational knowledge of object-oriented programming, preferably with experience in Java or Kotlin
• Must have achieved 24 semester hours of academic credit before beginning the first work term. Licenses
• A genuine passion for creating exceptional user experiences and a deep curiosity for solving real-world customer problems.
Travel Requirements
• This is a hybrid position, requiring a combination of in-office and remote work. The intern will be expected to work on-site at our Madison, WI corporate office for a minimum of 10 days per month. The remaining workdays can be performed remotely. Proximity to the specified American Family Insurance office is a requirement for this role.
