About the Role
ExecuPOWER is seeking an experienced
Drafting & Design Manager
to lead and elevate our drafting and design function across utility, power, and infrastructure projects. This is a leadership role for a proven design professional who combines technical depth, operational discipline, and people leadership.
You will be responsible for driving design excellence, standardization, and innovation ensuring our engineering teams are supported by high-quality, consistent, and compliant design deliverables across all projects.
What You'll Do
Team Leadership & Development Lead, manage, and mentor a team of drafting and design professionals across multiple active projects Support training, onboarding, and professional development initiatives Build a high-performance, quality-driven design culture Design Operations & Standards
Develop, implement, and maintain drafting standards, templates, workflows, and procedures Establish best practices for consistency, efficiency, and quality control Maintain structured version control, drawing management, and document archiving systems Quality & Compliance
Review and approve engineering drawings for accuracy, constructability, and compliance Ensure alignment with company standards, client requirements, and industry regulations Troubleshoot complex drafting/design challenges and provide technical guidance Cross-Functional Coordination
Partner with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to meet schedule, budget, and quality targets Support engineering teams in delivering efficient, scalable design solutions Innovation & Optimization
Evaluate and implement new drafting technologies, tools, and workflows Drive continuous improvement in productivity, accuracy, and design delivery What You Bring
Required Qualifications
Extensive experience in drafting and design leadership within the
utility, power, or civil engineering
industry Strong proficiency in
AutoCAD, MicroStation , and related design platforms Deep knowledge of
utility design standards , substation/distribution layouts, and civil design practices Proven leadership experience managing teams and multi-project workloads Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred Equivalent industry experience in utility drafting and design leadership will be strongly considered in lieu of formal education Preferred Qualifications
Experience with
BIM and/or 3D design platforms Familiarity with
NESC, IEEE, NEC , and utility regulatory standards Knowledge of
