We are looking for a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are accurately documented, processed, and prepared for dispatch. Your meticulous approach will be critical to maintaining the integrity of our order fulfillment process and ensuring customer satisfaction. This position is a key part of our logistics operation, requiring a strong understanding of shipping procedures and a commitment to accuracy and safety .
Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping labels, packing slips, and other required documentation for outgoing orders.
- Verify that all items in a shipment match the order specifications.
- Package goods securely and appropriately for transit, selecting suitable packaging materials.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Maintain organized records of all shipments, including tracking numbers and delivery confirmations.
- Operate shipping software and warehouse management systems (WMS) to process orders.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, including the correct use of PPE .
- Assist with loading outgoing shipments onto transport vehicles, ensuring proper weight distribution and security.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external carriers regarding shipping status.
- Conduct regular audits of shipping supplies and reorder as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in business or logistics is a plus.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or a related warehouse role.
- Proficiency in using computers and common office software, as well as shipping software.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including some standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
- Familiarity with shipping carrier procedures (e.g., UPS, FedEx, USPS).
- Commitment to workplace safety .
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
