Innate provides strategic intelligence for the biopharma industry by analyzing therapeutic landscapes, competitors, and evidence bases to deliver actionable insights. Innate transforms overwhelming information into prioritized, contextualized signals, enabling Medical Affairs teams to make proactive and impactful decisions. Through real-time updates on new data and competitor activities, Innate helps organizations keep their medical strategies dynamic and aligned with evolving landscapes. By streamlining processes, teams save time on updates and focus resources on the most relevant and impactful tactics, driving effective strategic outcomes.
Role Description
We are looking for a Platform Engineer to build, operate, and scale core platform services that power mission-critical, high-throughput workloads across teams and tenants. This role owns backend services, cloud infrastructure, and runtime patterns that enable pipeline onboarding, orchestration, execution, and real-time observability. You will work closely with application and data teams to turn bespoke solutions into reliable, reusable platform capabilities, with strong ownership over reliability, security, and operational excellence.
What you'll do
Platform & Backend Engineering
- Build and operate platform services and APIs for pipeline onboarding, orchestration, execution, and status reporting
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python (FastAPI) and/or Typescript (Node) with a focus on quality and maintainability
- Develop scalable platform abstractions supporting high-throughput, multi-tenant workloads
- Define and champion platform engineering standards and guardrails that enable autonomy while ensuring safety and compliance
Cloud, Infrastructure & Delivery
- Own AWS runtime patterns including ECS/EKS (Docker/Podman/Kubernetes), MWAA (Airflow), Lambda, Langraph/Step Functions, S3 and Supabase/RDS
- Design and maintain Terraform modules and CI/CD pipelines for consistent, secure infrastructure and deployments
- Ensure systems scale reliably, handle failures gracefully, and remain cost-aware
Reliability & Operations
- Drive observability and reliability practices (metrics, logs, tracing, alerting, SLOs)
- Improve incident response, runbooks, and failure-mode analysis
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical production issues in line with defined SLAs
Collaboration & Compliance
- Partner with application and data teams to evolve shared platform capabilities
- Ensure adherence to confidentiality, regulatory, HIPAA, and data protection requirements
- Support organizational policies, procedures, and mission objectives
What we're looking for
Required
- 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend and/or platform systems at scale
- Strong hands-on experience with Python (FastAPI) and Typescript (Node)
- Deep experience with AWS, including compute, orchestration, networking, IAM, and security fundamentals
- Strong Terraform experience, including module design and environment management
- Expertise in API design and platform patterns (versioning, auth, idempotency, rate limiting)
- Proven ownership mindset and ability to lead through influence across teams
What success looks like
- Platform services are reliable, scalable, and easy for teams to adopt
- Releases and infrastructure changes are predictable and low-risk
- Incidents are handled calmly, with continuous reliability improvement
- Teams trust the platform and standards without feeling constrained
Contract duration of 3 to 6 months.
Mandatory skills: Backend Engineering (Java Spring Boot / Python FastAPI or Django), API Design & Platform Patterns, CI/CD Pipelines & Release Engineering, Terraform Modules, REST APIs, Python, JavaScript, AWS Lambda
