PROFILE
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Student to join our Equity, Respect & Belonging team. This role is ideal for a student passionate about creating inclusive environments and supporting organizational initiatives that foster a culture of equity, respect, and belonging.
As a member of the Equity, Respect & Belonging team, you will play a key role in helping maintain and improve our internal resources, support ongoing projects, and contribute to research that ensures our practices stay current and aligned with emerging trends.
This position can be based in any of our Canadian offices This contract will be from May – August 2026.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Update and maintain internal Equity, Respect & Belonging documents, shared folders, templates, and tracking sheets.
- Conduct research on emerging equity, respect, and belonging best practices to ensure our materials and processes are current.
- Support project coordination, meeting preparation, note‑taking, and follow‑up tasks.
- Help maintain calendars, timelines, and project trackers.
- Support ongoing Equity, Respect & Belonging projects, campaigns, employee programs, and learning initiatives.
- Assist in developing content for presentations, newsletters, or internal communication as needed.
- Any other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled in a university or college program—ideally in Human Resources, Social Sciences, Equity Studies, Public Policy, or a related discipline. Students from other programs, including those in Law School with an interest in Equity, Respect and Belonging, are also encouraged to apply.
- A passion for Equity, Respect & Belonging, social justice, equity research, or organizational culture.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with a small team.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and online collaboration tools.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn.
The starting range for this role is $22.00/hr to $25.00/hr. Starting pay will be determined based on an applicant's individual skills, competencies and unique qualifications.
This position is currently vacant and is open to both internal and external candidates. Gowling WLG is recruiting for this role to support ongoing firm needs and team operations.
