The opportunity

The SOX Compliance intern will contribute to Gildan's SOX Business processes (60%) and SOX IT compliance activities (40%). They will help maintain and improve SOX documentation including flowcharts, narratives and control matrices to support accurate testing and issue tracking. He/she will also collaborate with internal and external SOX teams by participating in walkthroughs and control testing to gain exposure to the requirements and best practices for an effective IT environment. They will also play a role in integrating the Hanes SOX control framework, offering exposure to a significant cross‑organizational initiative.

The role

  • Initial risk and controls assessment - Support SOX scoping, risk assessments, control certification process and walkthroughs by working with corporate teams and IT teams to learn how existing controls operate (Business and ITGC). Provide insight to strengthen the IT Governance and Compliance strategy
  • SOX documentation - Help maintain and enhance SOX documentation (narratives, control matrices, flowcharts), while identifying improvements opportunities. Assist with the integration of Hanes control framework by updating the risk and control matrix, participating in the control rationalization process and updating the documentation in Workiva, the SOX documentation platform.
  • SOX control testing – Participate in the testing of key Corporate Division controls within the 2026 SOX compliance program, developing familiarity with testing procedures and documentation requirements.

The requirements

  • Bachelor's in accounting (ongoing)
  • French/English bilingualism (spoken and written).
  • Interest in SOX, internal controls, IT governance, or compliance‑related activities.
  • Work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment, adapt quickly and manage changing priorities.
  • Work independently, with limited direction and guidance
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and willingness to learn complex processes.
  • Ability to interact with and effectively influence people at all levels
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • This position requires proficiency in a language other than French to support customers, employees or markets located outside the province of Quebec or requiring services in a language other than French – mainly English.
