Summary: The Site Operations team at Meta is pivotal in delivering advanced data center compute and storage solutions, supporting a growing global community of apps and services. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative leader with diverse skills to spearhead transformative global initiatives within our team. In this crucial role, you will address significant technical and operational challenges while uncovering opportunities for improvement in SiteOps. As the Infrastructure Architect, you will lead high-impact initiatives and work collaboratively with various teams, including data center operations, Core Systems, CEA, PE, and hardware engineering. Your mission will be to develop adaptable solutions that enhance performance, efficiency, quality, and resilience across our infrastructure. Key areas will involve next-gen platforms and technologies and their integration with our data centers, alongside balancing physical and logical infrastructures. Responsibilities: Define and architect innovative solutions, representing Site Operations in global initiatives while partnering with Infrastructure Data Centers and teams.
Assemble and direct cross-functional teams to tackle complex engineering challenges, leveraging technical expertise and a comprehensive understanding of Meta's infrastructure landscape.
Address global issues requiring strong leadership and collaboration across various time zones and technical domains.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and mentor for designing, operating, and troubleshooting tools, technologies, and processes vital for Site Operations.
Assess risks and challenges tied to emerging hardware, data center, and software technologies, while developing effective mitigation strategies.
Take a holistic approach to the infrastructure stack, guiding solutions that balance physical and logical components for optimal effectiveness.
Act as a global communication hub for the design, implementation, and delivery of projects impacting our worldwide data center and server fleet, facilitating efficient issue resolution through local expertise and global collaboration.
Utilize data-driven methodologies to thoroughly analyze initial problems, define actionable plans, and monitor progress throughout project execution.
Deliver insightful data narratives while maintaining a continuous improvement focus.
Build and sustain trusted cross-functional relationships with teams around the world, championing the Site Operations Team and influencing policies to enhance global data center operations.
Expect to travel approximately 20% - 30% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Extensive knowledge of the entire infrastructure stack with hands-on experience in constructing or managing logical infrastructure on complex, distributed physical systems.
Exceptional communication skills, with a proven track record of effective collaboration in a highly distributed environment across team boundaries.
Over 10 years of technical experience in large-scale data centers or IT Infrastructure settings, or equivalent experience in developing systems for large-scale computing environments.
Proven experience in designing globally scalable solutions, turning strategic global initiatives into actionable local projects.
Deep understanding of the interdependencies among data center functions and technologies, including electrical, cooling, structured cabling, security, network, server, and storage systems.
Experience in building, managing, and scaling systems utilizing Linux or Unix operating systems.
Demonstrated capability to communicate analytical insights and influence strategies across cross-functional teams.
Experience with data center design and expansion initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications: Broad knowledge of storage and AI/ML services, alongside relevant supporting hardware.
Familiarity with coding or scripting languages, such as Bash, PHP, Python, SQL, or Perl.
Proven experience providing technical guidance to external vendors, with knowledge in virtualization, containerization, distributed systems, fault tolerance, and incident management.
Experience in high-level data center design and operations, including basic electrical and mechanical infrastructure, and scaling physical infrastructure.
Public Compensation: $208,000/year to $289,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits Industry:
