Border Patrol Agent

The U.S. Border Patrol offers a unique opportunity for those interested in a career in law enforcement to work with an elite team of highly trained professionals.

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws, as well as inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of noncitizens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions using infrared scopes during night operations.
• Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband.
• Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, transportation checks along international boundaries and coastal waterways using government assets such as vehicles,horses,vessels,watercraft off-road vehicles ATVs snowmobiles motorcycles

• A bachelor's degree in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR one (1) year general work experience demonstrating ability take charge make sound decisions maintain composure stressful situations learn regulations methods techniques through classroom training on-the-job instruction gather concise information questioning observation examination documents records;​​ OR combination general work experience successfully completed college education calculated resume official unofficial transcripts submitted application.​​ ​
• /One year specialized work experience showing skills necessary judge use firearms deal effectively courteous manner connection law enforcement matters analyze information rapidly make prompt decisions apply these skills law enforcement capacity criminal code enforcement determining violations correctional rehabilitation etc may apply duties responsibilities after hired detailed US border patrol Academy New Mexico six months intensive instruction immigration nationality laws construction/control command specific operations driver training physical techniques firerarm coursework.Upon completion BPA will become part Federal Law Enforcement Officer LEO profession presenting opportunities further advance careers leadership various specialization choices available within agency.)/
