Job Summary : The Network and Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's Network and Systems Infrastructure. Primary focus will be the network infrastructure while providing backup and additional assistance to the systems engineer as needed. This role ensures network availability, performance, and security by proactively monitoring, maintaining, and improving core network services. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical professional with strong troubleshooting skills, capable of supporting a growing organization with a lean IT team. Salary:
$80,000-95,000 annually Schedule/Location: Full Time, Hybrid (on-site a minimum of 2x per week) Location: This is a hybrid position based out of our Golden Valley location. Subject to change as business needs dictate. Must live in or have easy access to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. (Must be able to travel to all sites) Requirements Essential Functions: Network Administration Design, configure, and maintain network hardware, including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and VPNs. Monitor network performance and ensure availability for users across multiple sites. Implement and manage network segmentation to support security and scalability. Maintain documentation of network topology, configurations, and procedures. Systems Administration Provide support of systems through troubleshooting and resolving hardware/software, and connectivity problems Perform Active Directory administration tasks (ex: user/group, security permissions, group policies) ·
Patch, install and config application software, virtual environment and server/host devices Utilize scripting and other automation tools to eliminate manual tasks where possible Support Capacity: Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support for network and system-related issues. ·
Assist the help desk and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed Maintain regular system backups and disaster recovery readiness for critical infrastructure. Recommend and implement network and system improvements to align with organizational goals. Participate in IT roadmap planning and support strategic projects, such as system upgrades or adding in new capabilities Share knowledge with IT staff on network and system related topics and best practices. Communication and Culture: Provide a customer-oriented approach, communicating at all stages of ticket. Communicate in a positive and professional manner with customers, other employees, and volunteers. Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion to make AHS a welcoming environment for all. Additional Information: Schedule and Attendance: Regular, predictable attendance, punctuality, and availability to work during operational hours. Attend and participate in regular team meetings, all staff meetings, and one-on-one meetings with direct leader. Must be able to travel to a different work site based on department needs May be required to attend occasional off-site meetings and events. Work Environment: Primarily office/desk based. Adjacent animal shelter areas may be humid, noisy, or odorous. Qualifications: Experience: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience. 3+ years of experience
in network administration within a medium-sized or multi-site organization. 2+ years of experience
in systems administration within a medium-sized or multi-site organization Hands-on experience with firewalls, switches, routers, VPN technologies, and network monitoring tools. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs required. Experience with Microsoft server, Microsoft 365, Windows Active Directory, and PowerShell required Physical Demands: Prolonged sitting at a desk. Must be able to lift, carry, and handle items up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
For items over 50 lbs., assistance from another team member is required. Emotional Demands: Must be comfortable with the emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of humane euthanasia.
