Fitch Ratings is currently seeking an Operations Associate or Senior Operations Associate in our Ratings Strategy & Analytics team based out of our Manchester office.
About the Team
The Ratings Strategy & Analytics team collaborates with Ratings and Group to support metric-driven decision making and analysis of our operational and business performance. This includes analysing operational performance, developing business cases, monitoring competitors, and process, workflow and system assessments.
The Operations Associate / Senior Operations Associate role is in the Competitor Intelligence pillar of the Ratings Strategy & Analytics team, responsible for researching competitors and market trends and communicating insights to senior management on Fitch Ratings’ global competitive positioning. In addition, supporting operational initiatives in the broader Ratings Strategy & Analytics team as required.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
This is a unique opportunity for an early-career professional to work on diverse projects at the intersection of strategy and operations, gain exposure to global senior leadership, and develop a solid foundation of credit market knowledge.
Perform ongoing competitor intelligence, identifying news on competitors’ activities including strategic announcements, M&A, product launches, results, etc. Compile and analyse data and research from internal and external sources. Work with senior team members to build clear insights on Fitch’s business performance and competitive positioning
Analyse market trends that impact Fitch Ratings’ business, including new and emerging markets, AI and technology trends, and other Operational trends that influence the Ratings and broader financial services industry
Assist in the production of business cases with actionable recommendations – to support high-level decision-making on operations, strategy, tactics and change initiatives. Support the production of competitor intelligence deep dives on specific topics
Support the development of presentations that communicate Fitch’s business and / or operational strategies, objectives and plans to senior management and executive audiences.
Support and, in turn, own aspects of monthly and quarterly reporting for senior management. Focus on automation and efficiency in producing regular reporting / analysis and propose improvements to processes
You May be a Good Fit if:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, finance, economics, or similar analytical fields.
1-2 years’ experience, preferably in a strategic or operational role or something similar
Exceptional research skills, with meticulous attention to detail. Proactively problem-solves to find and validate a range of internal and external sources, and apply sound assumptions where necessary
Excellent analytical skills and strategic thinking to distill vast amounts of information into meaningful, accurate, relevant findings
Strong written communication skills to deliver updates and insights in compelling PowerPoint presentations and executive summaries for senior audiences
Embraces a variety of ad-hoc and longer-term projects and ways of working, adapting to business and stakeholder requirements and learning from feedback
Curious and collaborative nature; a team-player who raises thoughtful questions and suggests ideas to improve team effectiveness
Ability to multi-task effectively and prioritize different assignments whilst maintaining accuracy and adhering to tight deadlines
Strong Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills
What Would Make You Stand Out:
Prior experience at a financial services company or in consulting
Prior Credit Ratings experience or knowledge
GenAI, Python and/or financial modeling experience
