  • We actively work towards Truth + Reconciliation and being an anti-racist organization.
  • We are committed to environmental sustainability and climate justice.
  • We are a Living Wage Employer.
  • We value collaboration, innovation, integrity, equity, and community.

Your Role:

As a Philanthropy Advisor, you will help grow and steward Vancity Community Foundation's (VCF) donor community by applying community‑centric fundraising practices. You'll build meaningful relationships with wealth management professionals and their clients, with a focus on donor advised funds, annual giving, planned giving, and legacy giving.

In this role, you will serve as a trusted philanthropic guide - supporting donors as they bring their vision for positive change to life. You'll collaborate with wealth management professionals to align their clients' values and financial goals with VCF's opportunities for impact. You will also lead VCF's legacy giving program and help mid‑level donors deepen their engagement as they move through the giving pipeline.

This opportunity is ideal for a relationship‑centred fundraising or advisory professional who is inspired to put their relationship‑building and charitable giving expertise to work to help communities thrive. It's a great fit for someone who enjoys collaborating with wealth advisors, is motivated by supporting donors to maximize community impact, and thrives in a data‑informed, donor‑engagement environment.

This is a Full-time, Permanent role based at our Vancity Community Foundation's 312 Main office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on-site, or in community, for meetings and events. This role will report directly to the Sr. Manager, Development.
How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Building and nurturing strong relationships with wealth management professionals to expand their engagement with VCF and increase referrals to donor advised funds and other giving opportunities
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for wealth advisors whose clients have, or may benefit from charitable giving
  • Providing philanthropic advice and technical support on annual giving, planned giving, and beneficiary designations to help advisors and clients to optimize  philanthropic giving and financial goals
  • Developing and implementing engagement strategies, including routine reporting on donor advised funds held by wealth clients, to enhance member/client relationships and to deepen donor engagement
  •  Building shared understanding and enthusiasm for VCF's philanthropic opportunities across Vancity by creating clear, engaging resources - including Insite content, job aids, presentations and website updates
  • Leading and advancing VCF's legacy giving program, including the development and implementation of bequest strategies and other legacy-focused initiatives that drive long-term engagement
  • Harnessing the capacity of the CRM to track referrals and key relationships, monitor donor engagement, identify upgrade opportunities, and support segmentation and stewardship
  • Organizing and hosting events, orientations, and touchpoints that bring together wealth teams, clients, and prospective donors to share the impact and benefits of working with Vancity, VCIM, and VCF
  • Optimizing participation in, and impact of, the Wealth Advisors Fund as part of the broader wealth advisor engagement strategy

What You'll Bring to the Team:

  • Post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a relevant field such as fundraising, business, and financial services
  • Experience in donor relations, fundraising, wealth management, financial planning, or a related client-facing advisory role where you have supported individuals or families with complex financial or giving decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to build, nurture, and steward long-term relationships with wealth management professionals and/or donors, clients, or partners
  • Knowledge of charitable giving vehicles and strategies (e.g., donor advised funds, bequests, planned gifts, beneficiary designations, impact investing) and comfort discussing them with advisors and donors in accessible language
  • Proficiency using CRM or donor management systems to track referrals, record interactions, manage pipelines, and support segmentation and reporting for strategic outreach
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with experience developing and delivering engaging presentations, orientations, or events for professional audiences and/or donors
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across functions (e.g., wealth management, marketing, development) to co-create and implement engagement strategies

Extra Skills That Set You Apart:

  • Experience working within a community foundation, public foundation, or charitable organization with an emphasis on Donor Advised Funds or legacy giving
  • Familiarity with the Canadian philanthropic landscape, charitable regulations, and trends in values-based and impact-focused giving
  • Additional training or professional designations related to philanthropy, fundraising, financial planning, or wealth advising

You'll Thrive Here If You Are:

  • Relationship builder – You genuinely enjoy cultivating trust-based, long-term relationships with wealth advisors, donors, and internal partners, and you follow through consistently on commitments.
  • Strategic connector – You naturally see connections between people, opportunities, and initiatives, and you love bringing the right stakeholders together to deepen engagement and grow giving.
  • Impact driven – You are motivated by using philanthropy as a tool for community impact and are energized by helping donors align their values, financial goals, and giving strategies.
  • Organized and proactive – You are comfortable managing multiple relationships, events, and follow-ups at once, using tools like CRM to stay on top of pipelines and next steps.
  • Collaborative and curious – You seek input from colleagues, offer your best advice, and are always looking for ways to improve processes, stewardship, and donor experience.

We value lived experience, so if you are interested in this role, we encourage you to apply even if you feel your skills don't perfectly align with those listed.
