We're Hiring 
We are now accepting applications for an Awake Overnight to work in one of our Specialized Care Group Homes. 

Awake Overnight Youth Workers provide therapeutic support, supervision, and mentorship to assist clients to develop healthy lifestyles, and positive behaviours in our group homes.  

Services are based out of the Specialized Care homes. While primarily assigned to one home, AON Youth Workers are required to work at other resources as program needs dictate.  

Hours / Schedule:

  • Full-Time (40-hours / week).
  • Applicant must stay awake for the duration of their shift.
  • Applicants should be prepared to work a predictable rotating schedule consisting of 10-hour shifts on a 3-days on / 3-days off rotation. This is based on a 4-week / 28-day schedule.
  • Please be aware that this position requires weekend and holiday shifts, when part of the rotation schedule.

Responsibilities:
The Awake Overnight Responsibilities Include:

  • Working successfully as part of a collaborative case management team.
  • Providing care and emotional nurturing, as well as skilled intervention and supervision of the children and youth living in the home.
  • Cooperating with the staff team to monitor resident behaviours.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe environment.
  • Being responsible for food preparation, housekeeping duties, and maintenance of the house.

Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • Education in a relevant discipline (Health Care Assistant, Human Service Worker Diploma, Child & Youth Care Diploma, Community Support Worker, BSW) is preferred.

To be successful in your role, you'll also need: 

  • To have experience working with persons with disabilities including autism, as well as experience supporting youth and children who have complex needs and behaviours.
  • To have experience working with high risk children and youth in a group care setting.

Other Requirements

Given the nature of our work, please note that all shortlisted candidates:

  • Need a valid BC Driver's License, regional insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Must undergo a screening process, including a criminal record search.

Wage / Benefits:
$27.85 – $29.15 per hour based on experience and education. 

Upon successful completion of a trial period, this position is eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP or TFSA contributions); as well as accrued vacation and sick time at 5.8% - above BC Employment Standards
