The Opportunity

Our Canada Resources and Industry team supports clients from coast to coast. Over the decades, we have developed a wide range of services, including but not limited to: economic studies, project management, detailed design, procurement, construction management, commissioning, and industrial programming.

This position is within WSP's Resources group (industrial and mining). This division offers a full range of services to operators of mining, metallurgical, and other heavy‑industry sites. We are looking for an Industrial Structural Technician for our Sept‑Îles office, to support the planning and execution of construction projects or modifications to existing infrastructure.

Your Impact

  • Participate in the development of effective work methods for project delivery.
  • Contribute to conceptual and feasibility studies for industrial projects of all scales.
  • Perform 3D modeling and design of steel and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and details based on guidelines in the industrial sector.
  • Ensure coordination among the various disciplines involved in projects.
  • Supervise and verify the work of structural technicians and designers.
  • Participate in estimating deliverables and schedules for project execution.
  • Conduct field surveys on industrial sites using modern tools (drones, scanners, laser tape).
  • Carry out construction site inspections in heavy industrial environments.

Skills That Set You Apart

  • College diploma (DEC) in Civil Engineering or related training.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in design in a related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Mandatory experience in the resources and industrial sectors (mining, metals, pulp and paper, petrochemical, aluminum).
  • ASP Construction card (occasional travel).
  • Experience in consulting engineering (an asset).
  • Initiative, attention to detail, and strong teamwork skills.

Compensation

  • BC, AB, SK, NT & NU: $89,800 – $118,900
  • MB & ON: $81,900 – $112,800
  • Atlantic Provinces & QC: $81,100 – $107,700
