The role of the RM&S engineer requires ongoing involvement, starting at the conceptual phase of product design and throughout the product lifecycle.  The objective is to demonstrate, through analysis, the suitability of proposed component and system designs to meet intended reliability, safety and maintainability goals as early as possible in the development and throughout their evolution.
The successful candidate will perform analysis, apply reliability and safety engineering principles (FMECAs, FTAs, Risk Analysis and more) for all systems and subsystems on all aircraft types.
Duties include (but are not limited to) creating or revising system safety analysis reports to support conceptual design and design changes, Analysis to support continuing airworthiness safe flight processes (risk assessments), performing analysis to support in-service maintenance and reliability issues, creating or revising MMEL entries and documentation; Responding to airline operators' MMEL relief or clarification request; Reliability monitoring and providing RM&S Expertise to other engineering disciplines as required.
Key Responsibilities
Support the demonstration of compliance with aircraft standards and safety requirements via review and/or preparation of System Safety Analysis certification reports.
Complete detailed reliability design development and assessments including functional hazard assessments (FHA), particular risk analysis (PRA), fault tree analysis (FTA), failure modes effects and criticality analysis (FMECA), and common cause analysis.
Represent RM&S in Regulator (TCCA, FAA, EASA) meetings, Design and Certification Reviews (when assigned)
Support the development of instructions for continued Airworthiness and Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL).
Respond to in-service MMEL relief & clarification requests
Support the safety assessment process for in-service aircraft by preparing qualitative and quantitative analysis of service experience using methods such as Weibull Analysis, Monte Carlo simulation and sensitivity analysis.
Be responsible for the successful execution of R&M deliverables for new development projects while supporting the in service fleet and new aircraft production.
Participate in design reviews, customer meetings, technical and business-related workshops.
Champion the performance and development of junior engineers, designers, project managers.
Drive continuous improvement and demonstrate exemplary technical leadership
