  Position Overview Reporting to the VP, Sales & Origination, the Mortgage Analyst will support the end-to-end underwriting and funding of alternative mortgage loans in Ontario. This role acts as a primary point of contact for mortgage brokers and borrowers, coordinating closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely, compliant, and well-documented mortgage transactions. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-volume environment, exercises sound credit judgment, and is eager to grow within alternative lending.   Key Responsibilities Underwriting & Credit Support
  • Underwrite residential mortgage applications within the alternative lending space and prepare concise, well-supported mortgage summaries for Credit Committee review.
  • Review borrower financials, property details, and supporting documentation to assess credit risk and alignment with lending guidelines.
  • Support commercial or complex files as required.
Deal Execution & File Management
  • Manage mortgage files from application through funding, ensuring conditions are satisfied accurately and on schedule.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain complete, well-documented mortgage files for internal review, funders, and auditors.
  • Proactively follow up on outstanding documentation for new originations to meet funding timelines.
Stakeholder & Broker Relationships
  • Act as a primary point of contact for mortgage brokers and borrowers, providing timely updates and clear communication throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams and external partners, including legal counsel, to facilitate efficient fundings.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with mortgage brokers and brokerages through daily interaction and participation in industry events.
Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure all underwriting and administrative activities are completed in accordance with internal policies and applicable provincial and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy, documentation, and audit readiness across all files.
  Qualifications: Education & Experience
  • 1-3 years' experience in Canadian residential mortgage underwriting or alternative lending; exposure to commercial files is an asset.
  • Post-Secondary education with an emphasis on business administration, finance or equivalent.
  • Level 2 Mortgage Agent Licence, or ability to obtain within the probationary period.
  Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Self motivated with the ability to work remotely from home.
  • Must live in Ontario to attend industry events.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and build relationships with various individuals inside and outside the organization.

  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize time-sensitive matters.
  • Willingness to put in overtime on occasion, to support our clients and provide exceptional service levels.
  • Occasional attendance at local industry events and travel to BC.
