Join our team at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo and grow your experience at one of the most unique sites in Calgary The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is seeking a seasonal Coordinator, Interpretive Planning to join our dedicated Marketing team. Flex your creative mind to create thoughtful and engaging interpretive design for visitors to learn and enjoy.

Contract: 6 Month Term; up to 32 Hours Per Week.
What you will do:
- Coordinate interpretive capital projects, on-park seasonal experiences, and temporary interpretive installations.
- Assist in the development of interpretive content such as signage, labels, wayfinding, digital experiences, including research, drafting, editing, and proofing content.
- Prepare creative briefs for internal teams and external vendors under the direction of the Senior Strategist of Interpretive Planning.
- Coordinate stakeholder consultation processes, including gathering feedback, documenting decisions, and tracking approvals.
- Provide administrative and logistical support related to interpretive planning, including asset tracking and file management.
- Assist with budget tracking and invoice processing for interpretive projects.
- Provide support for evaluating and prototyping of interpretive signage.
- Contribute to the activation of the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo conservation story through impactful physical design elements.
- Enhance visitor flow and experience by streamlining wayfinding and improving the communication of operational, promotional, and interpretive information.
- Collaborate on the design and construction of new habitats and experiences, focusing on visitor flow, interpretive storytelling and overall aesthetic.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Natural History Interpretation or equivalent required.
- At least 1 year of experience in the development of education or training materials.
- Knowledge of conservation, environmental education, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in project management, especially in interpretive design or visitor experience roles preferred.
- Experience supporting content development, signage, or interpretive materials is an asset.
- Familiarity with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is an asset
- Strong writing, editing, and content development skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Creative problem-solving abilities.
Working Conditions:
- Considerable on grounds mobility and long periods of time on feet
- Office based position that may require long periods of computer work
- Minor lifting tasks
- Ability to work on weekends, statutory holidays and evenings may be required
The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is an outdoor facility and all staff working at the zoo must be comfortable working in a large variety of outdoor conditions. The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo follows the advice of Environment Canada when responding to temperature and air quality issues.
