We are currently seeking a full-time Materials Handling Coordinator to join our Manufacturing team in Richmond, B.C. This role is critical to the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of materials throughout our facility. Acting as the primary shipping and receiving function on site, the Materials Handling Coordinator ensures raw materials, packaging, and finished goods are received, staged, shipped, and recorded accurately while supporting uninterrupted production flow.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, safety-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys collaborating across production, inventory, and distribution teams.


What you will be doing: Material Handling & Production Support
  • Safely coordinate the movement of raw materials, ingredients, and packaging in alignment with production schedules and work orders

  • Stage, label, and prepare materials accurately to prevent errors, delays, or production downtime

  • Maintain clean, organized, and food-safe material storage and staging areas

  • Communicate material availability, shortages, quality concerns, and inventory discrepancies promptly to Production, Inventory Control, and Operations

  • Support multiple production areas and adjust priorities as schedules and volumes change

Shipping & Receiving
  • Perform all shipping and receiving activities for the manufacturing facility with a strong safety-first approach

  • Receive inbound materials and packaging, verifying quantities, condition, lot codes, and documentation accuracy

  • Ship finished goods to the Burnaby Distribution Centre according to internal transfer requirements and timelines

  • Prepare and maintain accurate shipping documentation, internal transfer records, and bills of lading

  • Coordinate carrier pickups and internal transportation to ensure timely and accurate transfers

Inventory Control & Accuracy
  • Record all inventory movements in real time using RFID scan guns and ERP systems

  • Maintain accurate inventory locations, lot tracking, and quantities

  • Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliations

  • Investigate inventory variances in collaboration with Inventory Control and Operations

Food Safety, Quality & Regulatory Compliance
  • Follow all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, including GMPs and HACCP

  • Handle and store materials to prevent contamination, damage, cross-contact, or mix-ups

  • Verify lot codes, production dates, expiry dates, and traceability information

  • Support audits, inspections, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives

Systems, Documentation & Safety
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in ERP and inventory management systems

  • Follow SOPs, food safety programs, and site safety policies

  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment

  • Perform pre-operational inspections and report hazards, near misses, or unsafe conditions

  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and clear communication


You'll bring:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • 1–3 years of experience in material handling, shipping/receiving, or inventory control (food or regulated manufacturing environment preferred)

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and food safety standards

  • Experience with RFID scan guns, barcode scanners, and ERP or warehouse management systems

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable

  • Ability to work independently while remaining flexible to operational needs
