Construction Services Intern Summer Student 2026

We are looking for a motivated Summer Student to support our GWLRA team. This is a hands‑on, learning‑focused opportunity designed to give exposure to real estate operations, construction projects, city coordination, and cost analysis. The Summer Student will work closely with Project Management, Operations, Leasing, and external stakeholders, gaining practical experience in how commercial properties are managed and improved.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

• How commercial building permits are managed and closed with city authorities
• How construction and fit‑out costs are estimated and benchmarked
• How project documentation and templates support efficient project delivery
• How different internal teams collaborate on tenant and landlord projects

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Permit Review & Close‑Out: Assist in reviewing and closing older City permits across multiple properties. This includes organizing permit records, coordinating with City departments, and helping resolve permits that were opened by tenants and never formally closed.
• Cost Benchmarking & Estimating Support: Help collect and organize cost data from past projects to create standardized cost sheets (e.g., cost per square foot for different scopes of work). These benchmarks will support Leasing and Project teams with future budgeting and decision‑making.
• Project Template & Documentation Support: Assist with reviewing and standardizing project templates and documents used across the portfolio, helping ensure consistency and clarity.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently enrolled in a program related to Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Urban Planning, Real Estate, Business, or a related field
• Organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working with data and documents
• Curious, eager to learn, and comfortable asking questions
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple teams

The base salary for this position is $21.00 hourly.
