Projects require environmental review and licensing, and this step is becoming increasingly critical for development across Canda and around the world. This is a permanent full-time position in our Prairies and Territories Assessment and Permitting Team based in the Yellowknife office. Your Opportunity

Our Environmental Services Group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in atmospheric sciences, acoustics and vibration, marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, and Information Management. We help our clients identify and respond to opportunities and threats within constantly changing regulatory and corporate environments, through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and governmental regulators. Our environmental services practitioners offer a full suite of services including permitting, monitoring, modeling, planning, policy studies, design, and control.

Stantec's Environmental Services Practice is currently seeking a full-time position for a Junior Air Quality Engineer in our Calgary office location.  We are seeking an exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in air quality (AQ) assessment to join our team and advance their career. Our Air Quality Specialists provide specialized services to a wide variety of sectors including industry, government, architecture, transportation, and buildings. In addition to air quality related work, our Atmospheric Science group provides services such as greenhouse gas (GHG) verification, hazard and risk assessment, air monitoring network design, and noise assessment.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting air quality assessments for a wide range of facilities/processes and for various jurisdictions, with a primary focus in western North America.
  • Completing air quality assessments, including air emissions inventory development, air dispersion modelling, regulatory compliance support and recommendations, etc..
  • Assisting other team members in the preparation of reports, proposals, marketing materials, and/or technical papers.

Your Capabilities and Experience

  • Working knowledge in industrial process and environmental impact assessments
  • Proficient understanding of provincial and federal regulatory requirements and guidelines
  • Experience in a consulting work environment
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with air dispersion models (i.e., AERMOD, CALPUFF) is an asset
  • Training and applicable experience in the ISO 14064 greenhouse standards is an asset

Pay Transparency:  In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
