We currently have an exciting opportunity for full time CAD designer to join our dynamic team with experience in designing custom and production wood millwork. This position is based in our Mississauga headquarters and is a full time position. Our clients include private collectors, luxury homebuilders, and hospitality industry leaders.
Primary Duties
- Interlock with Sales people to understand customers requests and prepare presentation drawings/renderings for use in securing projects.
- Design fully enclosed wine rooms and cabinets using 3D Solids Modeling software. Experience in SolidWorks SWOOD a strong asset, but equivalent such as MicroVellum or Sketchup also acceptable.
- Prepare millwork shop drawings and nesting for our CNC router (commercial and residential) with all plan views, elevations, and sections to meet architectural requirements with assigned part numbers to all drawings.
- Prepare material take-offs and hardware take-offs based on millwork shop drawings and specifications.
- Review dimensions, weight limitations and requirements in materials.
- Keep a clear record of project progress and job folder organization and interact with our Project Management tool.
- Complete documentation packages - Job Profile Sheets - and prepare production drawing sets based on current projects and team needs.
- Design Change Order (DCO) revisions based on redlines and site measurements. Maintain version control and keep most recent versions of drawing accessible to Project Managers.
- Follow and maintain a drawing standard for uniformity of shop drawings up to company's drafting standards.
- Assist and report to Project Manager to achieve the project's completion.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in CAD Design in the woodworking space.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, Teams, Excel and Word, Dropbox.
- Ability to use SolidWorks, SWOOD, Sketchup, or Microvellum on a daily basis
- Understanding of millwork cabinetry construction and manufacturing processes.
- Familiar with materials such as Precision Wood Veneer, solid wood, Plastic Laminates and Melamine.
