Transformation & Business Development Manager
Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national, not-for-profit, shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada, as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides value-driven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies, pharmaceutical products, local sourcing, capital (equipment, FF&E and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics, in-hospital support, warehousing/logistics, technology, procure-to-pay, and accounts payable.
With an emerging focus on sustainability and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental, social, and economic best practices. Based in Burlington, ON, the organization also has offices in Toronto, Thunder Bay, Kingston, Brantford, London and Chatham, and a distribution centre in Oakville.
We are currently recruiting for a full-time Transformation & Business Development Manager to support our Strategic Initiatives team.
Position Overview
The Transformation & Business Development (T&BD) Manager is responsible for executing on strategic business development strategies and providing expert project management for high priority, Member-facing transformation projects. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on change management and project management support for both internal transformation priorities and business development initiatives.
The T&BD Manager will report to the Director, Strategic Initiatives, working together to deliver on key transformation projects and business development targets.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Development and Project Initiation:
- Execute on business development strategy across key strategic areas, including within T&BD department as well as other functional areas and health sectors.
- Support drafting and development of Statements of Work (SOWs) for new opportunities, ensuring a consistent approach is being followed and that SOWs are well-aligned with resulting project plans.
- Support functional leaders with the strategic development of growth plans and refinement of goals.
- Work with department and functional leaders to develop concrete, detailed plans for ongoing transformation projects based on defined objectives, project schedule, tasks, KPIs, and realistic timelines.
- Collaborate with various teams to refine transformation project plans to support initiation of project.
- Collaborate with Director and leadership to shape the vision and direction of T&BD and other strategic growth areas, contributing to long-term strategic planning.
Project Execution & Oversight:
- Lead end-to-end management of assigned projects, working with assigned team members, ensuring completion on time, consistency with agreed to scope, and alignment to client needs.
- Ensure effective execution of project management support and proper use of project management tools and resources within department, and across corporate projects as required.
- For IT-related transformation projects, work with IT project leads and technical resources to monitor project dependencies and critical path.
- Keep alignment between projects and the overall strategic goals of the organization.
Centralized Tracking and Reporting:
- Provide leadership with data-driven insights related to business development, highlighting emerging opportunities and areas for growth.
- Develop an end-to-end approach for tracking and reporting ongoing business development activities and projects (both internal and external), taking existing tools at MMC into consideration.
- Work with the Director, Strategic Initiatives to determine required views for different stakeholder groups (e.g., corporate vs. functional area reporting).
- Track revenues associated with external projects, ensuring actual support is aligning with planned support.
- Report or present project status on a regular basis, ensuring any risks are being highlighted quickly to functional leaders.
- Draft, edit, proofread and provide input on written communications, including reports, concept papers, presentations, memos and briefing notes, through an iterative process with the Director, Strategic Initiatives.
- Report or present final results from projects to the appropriate parties.
Project Resource Development:
- Lead the development of best-in-class project documentation, including end-to-end workflows (intake, design, drafting, execution, close-out, etc.) and Executive level reporting.
- Develop and execute fiscal year workplans for corporate projects and business development priorities.
- Develop strategic resources, templates, and tools to support ongoing projects, ensuring alignment with client needs and internal requirements.
Team and Staff Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop resources supporting projects within T&BD, fostering a collaborative culture.
- Provide ongoing feedback by using effective management techniques, implementing change management processes, and developing qualified staff to ensure high-level customer service.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and retention strategies for the department, as required.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of internal training programs, with a focus on business development and lessons learned from past transformation projects.
Administrative/Other Responsibilities:
- As appropriate, assist other strategic and project-focused teams to ensure success across MMC.
- At all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with supervisors and coworkers.
- Other duties as assigned, dependent on organizational needs and employee skills.
Qualifications and Skills
Mandatory:
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field or equivalent.
- 5-7 years of project management experience, including demonstrable involvement in organization wide or high impact transformation projects — particularly those involving digital, automation, or AI enabled solutions.
- People leadership experience 1-2 years.
- Demonstrated ability to identify strategic market or growth opportunities and translate them into actionable recommendations or initiatives.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and time management skills. An ability to compose, edit, fact check, review, and revise a wide range of materials, including market research, thought pieces, reports, concept papers, presentations, email correspondence, and basic reports.
- Critical thinking in assessing, compiling, and disseminating information.
- Ability to work well independently and as a team member.
- Ability to take initiative and follow tasks through to completion.
- Ability to lead a team toward MMCs goals, leveraging team members' skill sets.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong computer proficiency, including excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and project management tools. Willingness and ability to adapt to new tools / software.
- Skill in determining matters of importance and valuable information in accomplishing tasks.
- Ability to provide, deny or ask for information in a tactful and friendly manner, while using discretion when providing information.
- An intuitive ability to recognize and appropriately convey the sensitive nature of any situation and the ability to keep all matters appropriately confidential
Preferred:
- MBA or Master's level degree in business or health administration.
- Experience within the healthcare industry is highly advantageous
Travel
- Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.

MMC is a Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) employer offering a comprehensive benefits package and flexible remote work options. The targeted hiring range of this role is $95,821 - $112,305 dependent on experience. This job posting is for an existing vacancy.
