Job Description
ACCIONA , as part of the South Fraser Station Partners (SFSP) joint venture, has been selected by the Province of British Columbia to deliver the Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project - one of the most significant transit expansions in Metro Vancouver.
The SFSP scope includes the design and construction of eight stations, a 250-metre guideway, three standalone Power Propulsion Substations, and three bus exchanges. This project will enhance regional connectivity by providing fast, frequent, and reliable transit service for communities and businesses across Metro Vancouver, particularly south of the Fraser River.
SFSP is a general partnership between ACCIONA, Aecon, and Pomerleau, bringing together global infrastructure expertise and local delivery excellence.
The main function of a Superintendent is to coordinate all direct report site employees, resources, labourers, and subcontract teams to achieve quality and safety objectives in accordance with the project plans and schedules.
Responsibilities
- Promote, lead, and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants.
- Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments and mentorship with crew.
- Ensure works are performed to the required safety and quality standards, through both scheduled and non-scheduled site checks to ensure compliance with policies & procedures.
- Understand overall site accountabilities and adhere to those.
- Stop work when conditions are unsafe; escalate and correct promptly; participate in incident reporting and corrective actions.
- Review and report incidents to Health & Safety procedures.
- Mentor forepersons and support the development of a strong trade and supervisory culture on site.
- Ability to effectively direct and coordinate the works on site in coordinator with the subcontractors and other working site members.
- Facilitate collaboration amongst site members, sub-contractors and any other visiting stakeholders.
- Monitor sub-contractor performance and report necessary details.
- Support field engineering and site management with clear, timely information for decision-making.
- Drive quality, efficiency, and productivity of work crews.
- Identify constraints early and drive resolution.
- Maintaining a comprehensive working knowledge of the contract, the specifications and safety and environmental regulations.
- Follow project plans and budgets while ensuring the foreperson and crews perform to meet production goals.
- Monitor overall construction progress as well as safety compliance and environmental requirements.
- Ensures accurate timesheets are submitted to the necessary parties.
- Responsible for ordering and coordinating equipment and materials to complete production on budget and schedule.
- Document daily field activities and provide technical input to identify and resolve design problems.
- Provide recommendations to improve overall site operations.
- Initiate daily meetings on site to ensure timelines are kept accurate.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Minimum 10 years' experience within the building industry (Institutional / Industrial) with a minimum 5years' experience as a supervisor.
- Demonstrated experience to support on planning up to 1 month ahead and monitoring cost and time of resources within area of accountability.
- Ability to uphold safety and compliance measures in place.
- Proven leadership capabilities.
- Strong multi-tasking abilities.
- Ability to problem solve within the best interest of the project and handle any conflicts that arise.
- Strong relationship management skills.
This role offers an annual base salary in the anticipated range of $140,000–$170,000 CAD, with compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
