The Aircraft Maintenance Technician - Mechanics will be responsible for assembling, installing, and fitting mechanical systems, structures, and components of an aircraft during the production or maintenance phases. This role involves working with various mechanical parts and systems of the aircraft, ensuring that they are correctly assembled, aligned, and functioning according to technical specifications, blueprints, and safety standards. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm MST (with flexibility for shift work if required).
Key Responsibilities
Assemble and install mechanical systems, components, and structures (e.g., engines, landing gears, hydraulic systems) based on blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions.
Fit, adjust, and align mechanical parts such as engine mounts, flight control surfaces, and other systems, ensuring proper placement and alignment.
Install and connect various aircraft systems like fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/mechanical interfaces in accordance with manufacturing standards and procedures.
Perform quality checks on assembled components to ensure they meet engineering specifications and regulatory standards. Conduct functional tests to confirm proper operation.
Interpret and apply blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to complete maintenance tasks, raising any questions or discrepancies to the Lead Hand.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cared for and organized.
Disassemble components for inspection, record discrepancies, and recommend appropriate repair methods, documenting all findings and actions taken.
Install, rig, and test mechanical systems following manufacturer guidelines, ensuring all work is completed to high safety and quality standards.
Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical issues, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
Use specialized tools, such as torque wrenches, rivet guns, and precision measuring instruments, to perform mechanical assembly and installation.
Maintain clear and detailed records of work performed, parts used, and ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant with industry standards.
Perform additional duties as assigned, with the flexibility to adjust to operational demands including shift work as needed.
Education & Experience
Graduated from an accredited trade institution with a focus on Aircraft Mechanics or a related field, shall hold or working towards a current AME licensed (M1 or M2) Transport Canada license.
Minimum 5-10 years of experience in general aircraft assembly, fabrication, and mechanical system installations.
Demonstrated ability to interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and written instructions for accurate task completion.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications and or Skills
Experience working on Waterbomber 215/415/515 aircraft and systems is considered an asset.
Possession of a valid M1 or M2 license is considered an asset.
Proficiency in the use of aircraft maintenance software and tools is a plus.
Familiarity with Transport Canada regulations and compliance requirements.
