We are looking for a qualified Forklift Operator to join our team in Washington, D.C. In this role, you will be responsible for operating powered industrial trucks to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. This is a critical position within our logistics department, ensuring the efficient flow of goods. A strong emphasis on safety and operational excellence is required.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate forklifts and other relevant warehouse equipment to move materials.
- Load and unload freight from trucks, trailers, and shipping containers.
- Transport goods to and from designated warehouse locations, such as storage areas, production lines, or shipping docks.
- Perform daily inspections of equipment to ensure it is in good working order and compliant with safety standards.
- Stack and store merchandise in appropriate locations, ensuring product integrity and accessibility.
- Maintain accurate inventory records by updating system information after moving goods.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Assist with other warehouse tasks, including picking, packing, and shipping, as needed.
- Participate in regular safety training and contribute to a culture of safety.
- Identify and report any safety hazards or operational inefficiencies within the logistics environment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Forklift Operator.
- Valid forklift certification required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe forklift operation and warehouse safety practices.
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Proficiency in operating sit-down, stand-up, and reach forklifts.
- Understanding of warehouse logistics and inventory control principles.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime as required.
- Commitment to wearing all required PPE, including safety glasses, vests, and hard hats where applicable.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
