As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you'll join our Platform Product Group, focused on delivering a trustworthy, scalable, and compliant architecture that maximizes velocity, efficiency, and quality across multiple products and teams at Coinbase, ensuring a consistent and high-quality user experience. About the Team: The Risk Engineering Team plays a vital role in managing financial threats to both our business and our users. By joining this team, you will contribute to building a robust platform and essential services designed to mitigate fraudulent activities at scale and enhance our ability to identify legitimate user behaviors. Your Responsibilities: Design and implement a next-generation core Risk platform architecture that powers Coinbase.
Collaborate with stakeholders across various teams involved in building Coinbase products and financial operations.
Contribute to shaping the strategic direction and execution of the Risk platform.
Oversee individual projects, managing priorities, deadlines, and deliverables utilizing your technical expertise.
Mentor and guide team members on design best practices and coding standards.
Produce high-quality, well-tested code that meets user needs.
What We're Looking For: At least 10 years of experience in backend software engineering using Golang or a similar language.
A proven track record of delivering impactful solutions that facilitate significant risk management processes.
Experience in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency production services.
Proficiency in architecting and developing solutions for complex and ambiguous challenges that have substantial implications.
Strong technical expertise in creating distributed systems capable of processing at massive scale.
Excellent communication skills, allowing you to convey ideas effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
A relentless drive to set ambitious goals and the perseverance to achieve them.
A passion for contributing to an open financial system that unites the world.
Preferred Qualifications: Domain expertise in Risk Engineering.
Hands-on experience with Machine Learning models and their application to scale risk management processes.
Experience in both startup environments and large enterprises.

Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position can range from $253,895 to $298,700 USD. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include eligibility for bonuses, equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
