Position Summary The Wireless, IoT & Network Engineer plays a crucial role in designing, deploying, and enhancing the company’s wireless network and IoT systems across our properties. This position guarantees reliable, secure, and optimal WiFi services for both guests and operations, utilizing Aruba Central for seamless management. The engineer is also responsible for leading various network and IoT projects from start to finish, managing scope, timelines, stakeholder communications, and vendor performance to ensure successful technology rollouts across multiple locations. Key Responsibilities Wireless Network & Aruba Central Administration Administer and enhance the wireless infrastructure company-wide using Aruba Central, focusing on configuration templates, group policies, firmware management, and alert notifications. Monitor wireless system performance, capacity, and coverage, promptly addressing any issues affecting connectivity for guests and staff. Conduct RF planning and site optimizations to enhance signal quality and minimize interference. Ensure consistent WLAN standards across all properties, complying with corporate configurations and security protocols. WiFi Service Management Oversee and ensure superior reliability and user experience of guest WiFi, managing bandwidth, captive portal operations, and performance metrics. Collaborate with property teams for efficient troubleshooting of guest WiFi challenges. Implement ongoing improvements to enhance guest satisfaction and decrease support tickets. IoT Integrations & Network Enablement Design and facilitate integration of IoT devices and systems (such as smart locks, cameras, sensors, HVAC systems) with the network. Establish secure network segmentation and access controls for IoT devices to safeguard core systems while allowing operational functionality. Partner with application, cybersecurity, and operational teams to confirm device performance and interoperability before large-scale implementations. Project Management & Delivery Leadership Lead various wireless, IoT, and telecom projects through all phases, including requirements gathering, timeline management, risk assessment, and status updates. Create project schedules, milestones, and deployment strategies for multi-site initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient execution of projects. Manage shiftovers, change control processes, and post-deployment assessments to minimize operational disruptions. Provide concise executive summaries on project status, challenges, financials, and achievements. Vendor/Telecom Oversight Serve as the technical lead for vendor management, including MSPs, telecom firms, and IoT partners. Define project requirements, assess proposals, validate deliverables, and ensure adherence to SLAs and timelines. Coordinate telecom services and ensure failover designs support stable connectivity. Keep accurate records of vendor contracts, inventories, pricing, and escalation procedures. Documentation, Standards, and Continuous Improvement Maintain up-to-date network diagrams, configuration standards, SOPs, and specific documentation for wireless/IoT systems. Analyze recurring incidents and implement root-cause solutions to minimize downtime. Advise on updates, tools, and architecture enhancements to support growth and modernization. Required Qualifications 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience in wireless networks and enterprise support, preferably in hospitality, retail, or similarly distributed settings. Hands-on experience with Aruba Central for managing large-scale wireless deployments. Strong foundation in wireless networking principles (WLAN design, RF fundamentals, troubleshooting). Experience in supporting guest-facing/WiFi networks or other high-availability systems. Proven track record of IoT system integration and support on enterprise networks. Experience in managing vendors, including MSPs and telecom services. Demonstrated success in project management leading technical deployments across multiple sites. Excellent communication abilities, capable of translating technical matters for non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Aruba certifications (ACMA/ACMP/ACSP or equivalent). Understanding of NAC, zero-trust principles, and network security best practices. Familiarity with captive portals, PMS systems integration, or WiFi analytics tools. Formal training in project management methodologies and tools. Work Environment & Expectations This role supports a hybrid work schedule in Atlanta, GA. Involves multi-property hospitality support with remote diagnostics and occasional site visits. Requires about 50% travel. May need to work off-hours for system upgrades or urgent issues. Collaborates closely with IT operations, property teams, security personnel, and external vendors.
