Job Description Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for a Data Analytics Business Intelligence Analyst.
This position will support SMECO business units with data requests, research, and statistical analysis including the use of advanced analytical tools, programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL) and data visualization software. Design, code and rigorously test technical analytical solutions, leveraging existing data to derive business patterns and actionable insights. This position will also evaluate different options of storing, manipulating and analyzing data. Collect detailed project requirements from business subject matter experts for each business and operational analytic project. Finally, this position will train business subject matter experts in the use of data visualization tools, create business intelligence dashboards, reports and other data visualization and presentation tools. We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Business Intelligence Analyst with proficiency in both coding and non-coding analytical tools, as well as dashboard development skills to join our dynamic team. This role involves leveraging data to provide strategic insights that will drive business decisions and improve operational efficiency for the cooperative. Candidates are required to have a Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related STEM field. A Master's degree is preferred. May substitute work experience where appropriate. Candidates are required to have two to five years of progressive work experience in supporting, designing, and developing complex business solutions and products required. Electric Utility experience is preferred. The starting salary range for this position is $95,300 - $123,500. SMECO offers and excellent benefits program including a 401k 6% dollar for dollar match and additional 3% non-elective company contribution.
