While many roles at Coinbase offer flexibility, in-person participation is crucial throughout the year. We hold team and company-wide offsites multiple times annually to promote collaboration and alignment, and your participation is both expected and supported. As part of our team, you will be developing a cutting-edge, ultra-low-latency indexing platform that ingests and indexes data from major blockchains. This platform supports teams across Coinbase and provides developers access via the Coinbase Developer Platform. You will be building the real-time infrastructure required for a variety of applications. Your work will involve a modern streaming stack (gRPC, Kafka, etc.) focused on creating scalable, low-latency services. Our small, impact-driven team works collaboratively to deliver platform tools and SDKs that enhance developer efficiency and speed to market. Your responsibilities will include: Designing, building, and operating low-latency indexing and streaming services leveraging gRPC, Kafka, and other technologies.
Owning APIs, schemas, service-level objectives (SLOs), observability, and on-call responsibilities for the systems you manage.
Leading substantial initiatives (such as new chain integrations, system re-architectures, and data migrations/backfills) to enhance latency, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
Collaborating across multiple teams to establish data contracts and deliver SDKs/platform tools that facilitate greater adoption.
We seek candidates who meet the following criteria: 5+ years of software engineering experience.
Strong expertise in distributed systems or data systems; experience with crypto is a significant advantage.
A track record of architecting and developing impactful solutions to complex and ambiguous problems.
A deep passion for creating an indexing platform that bridges Web3 and Web2.
Preferred qualifications include: Experience in designing and developing distributed systems.
経験 in rapidly scaling teams (from 10 to hundreds of engineers).
Familiarity with blockchains such as Bitcoin or Ethereum.
Experience in transitioning from a monolithic architecture to microservices.
Proficiency with technologies like Golang, Kafka, Redis, S3, Clickhouse, and MongoDB.
Experience in building high-reliability financial or security systems.
Practical knowledge of crypto, including onchain activities and engagement with Ethereum addresses and decentralized applications (dApps).

Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual base salary for this position ranges between $186,065 and $218,900 USD, depending on your work location. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility, equity options, and comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
