Your Role As a Software Engineer Intern at Cisco, you will have the exciting opportunity to design and build software solutions that underpin Cisco's products and platforms. Engage in end-to-end development across APIs, backend services, user interfaces, and distributed systems. You'll tackle real-world challenges, deliver impactful features, and help shape the future of technology and connectivity. Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled in a certification program (e.g., Boot Camp, Apprenticeship, Community College), or pursuing an undergraduate degree. Proficiency in at least one backend language (Python, C++, or Java) and familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript for frontend development.
Experience in API development (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC).
Solid understanding of data structures, object-oriented programming principles, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or Cisco Cloud).
Preferred Qualifications Experience with Docker or Kubernetes (containerization/orchestration).
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation).
Exposure to CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI).
Experience with monitoring platforms (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk).
Knowledge of UI frameworks (React, Angular, Vue) for full-stack pathways.

Message to Applicants in the U.S. and/or Canada: Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location, market conditions, job-related skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training. The full salary range for certain locations is detailed below. For locations not listed, the recruiter can provide more information on compensation during the hiring process. U.S. employees may access benefits, subject to Cisco's plan eligibility rules, including medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability coverage, and standard life insurance. Additional benefits can be discovered on the Cisco careers site. Employees may also receive grants of Cisco restricted stock units, which vest with continued employment over defined durations. U.S. employees are entitled to paid time off as follows, subject to Cisco's policies: 10 paid holidays per year, plus 1 floating holiday for non-exempt employees.
1 paid day off for the employee's birthday, along with year-end holiday shutdown and 4 paid wellness days determined by Cisco.
Non-exempt employees receive 16 days of paid vacation annually, accrued at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period for full-time employees.
Exempt employees participate in Cisco's flexible vacation program, allowing unlimited vacation time use, subject to some business considerations.
80 hours of sick time off provided on hire date and each January 1st thereafter, with up to 80 hours of unused sick time carried over to the next year.
Additional paid time off may be requested for critical family emergencies.
Optional up to 10 paid volunteer days each year.
For non-sales roles, employees can earn annual bonuses based on Cisco's policies. In sales positions, performance-based incentive pay is available in addition to the base salary, divided between quota and non-quota components, according to the Cisco plan.
