As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing embedded firmware systems for our cutting-edge AR, VR, and wearable devices. You'll work on low-level systems software, device drivers, and connectivity protocols including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Collaborate with diverse teams to tackle complex challenges and drive innovation in computer vision, machine learning, and graphics, thus shaping the future of augmented and virtual reality. Responsibilities: Design and implement software components at all layers of the system, focusing on kernel, synchronization primitives, resource allocation, memory management, security, I/O systems, and persistence.
Develop efficient drivers and services for constrained environments, ensuring low-latency and high-bandwidth data delivery.
Lead hardware bring-up efforts, peripheral drivers, silicon integration, and optimize power and performance management.
Debug complex, multi-component issues across various system layers from kernel to application.
Profile performance issues and implement optimizations across the software stack.
Integrate software components from multiple partners into a cohesive product code base and guide their ongoing development.
Analyze, design, develop, and debug firmware for devices featuring novel sensing, imaging systems, haptic feedback, and audio prototypes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and innovate features in wireless connectivity, including various protocols.
Enhance systems with wireless interfaces, providing comprehensive support to QA, manufacturing, and other software teams.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
7+ years of software development experience in industry settings, or a PhD with 4+ years of practical experience.
3+ years of embedded software development experience.
Proficiency in managing large-scale C/C++ code bases.
Proven ability to define and lead technical workstreams, providing guidance to software engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with Java, Python, or Android development.
Experience working with technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular, or related systems.
Background in developing embedded software for consumer electronic products.
Knowledge of Cellular connectivity stacks on platforms like Android.
Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi implementation on common platforms like Android or iOS.
Experience integrating Bluetooth Host Stack features, including audio and co-existence with other wireless technologies.
