We are currently looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join one of the teams within the Platform Product Group. This group is dedicated to establishing a scalable, trusted, and compliant platform that enhances efficiency and quality across teams at Coinbase, ensuring a consistent and high-quality user experience. The Core Automation team aims to create AI-driven operations for seamless customer experiences while maximizing shareholder value. Our strategy includes developing automated solutions for Customer Support and Compliance and utilizing these experiences to build scalable frameworks that enhance every aspect of customer interactions and internal processes. This is just the beginning. We are focused on automating customer support and compliance processes today and envision a future where AI fundamentally redefines how these systems operate, always striving to provide an outstanding customer experience while improving compliance and delivering significant shareholder advantages. What You'll Be Doing: Designing and implementing AI systems that enhance Coinbase's customer support experience and compliance processes.
Creating and implementing orchestration, guardrails, and measurement techniques to ensure AI Agents are effective and customer-friendly.
Architecting and developing distributed systems.
Providing technical structure to teams and collaborating with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps.
Managing project priorities, timelines, and deliverables using your technical expertise.
Mentoring team members on design techniques and coding standards.
Designing and implementing foundational APIs for use by language models.
Writing high-quality, well-tested code that meets user needs.
What We Look For: Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.
Experience in architecting and developing solutions to challenging problems with significant impact.
A strong passion for building an open financial system that connects people worldwide.
Nice to Haves: Experience deploying LLM-based applications, including measuring and improving grounding to a given corpus and reducing inaccuracies.
Background in Customer Support Compliance or Financial Crimes domains.

Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position ranges as follows. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility, equity opportunities, and comprehensive benefits (including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)). Base salary range: $218,025-$256,500 USD. Total compensation also encompasses equity, bonuses, and benefits. Applicants are limited to a maximum of four submissions within a 30-day window.
