Your Contribution As an enthusiastic software engineer, you will utilize your skills in developing scalable backend systems, designing analytics platforms, and creating infrastructure that supports modern cloud and distributed computing initiatives. Your experience with programming, distributed systems, and cloud platforms will empower you to address complex challenges with creativity and precision. By building and maintaining essential software tools and backend infrastructure, you will enable Cisco’s business teams to leverage AI and data insights for both operational excellence and strategic expansion. Your work will ensure high-quality, reliable platforms, reinforcing Cisco's standing in intelligent and scalable technology solutions. Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled in a certification program (e.g., Boot Camp, Apprenticeship, Community College or a 4-Year University with 2 years of relevant experience) or in a graduate degree program with 0 years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in at least one backend programming language: C/C++, Java, or Go.
Experience in designing and developing microservices and APIs.
Strong understanding of Linux and fundamental networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Preferred Qualifications Conceptual understanding of AI/ML.
Experience with automation and software testing (e.g., pyTest).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of networking protocols such as BGP and VLANs.

U.S. employees receive benefits, subject to Cisco's eligibility rules, including medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability coverage, and basic life insurance. Employees may also be eligible for grants of Cisco restricted stock units, vesting after a defined period of continued employment. U.S. employees are entitled to paid time off as outlined below, subject to Cisco’s policies: 10 paid holidays per calendar year, plus 1 floating holiday for non-exempt employees.
1 paid day off for birthdays, paid year-end holiday shutdown, and 4 personal wellness days determined by Cisco.
Non-exempt employees receive 16 days of paid vacation time per calendar year, accrued at 4.92 hours per pay period for full-time roles.
Exempt employees participate in a flexible vacation policy allowing unlimited vacation time (subject to availability and some business constraints).
Employees receive 80 hours of sick time off upon hire and at the beginning of each calendar year thereafter, with unused sick time rolled over annually.
Additional paid leave may be requested for critical family emergencies.
Optional 10 paid days per calendar year for community service.
Non-sales roles may also earn annual bonuses per Cisco's policies. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentives in addition to their base salary, structured around individual and team achievements. The comprehensive salary ranges for this position, broken down by state, are listed below: New York City Metro Area: $44,000.00 - $185,000.00 Non-Metro New York state & Washington state: $44,000.00 - $185,000.00 For quota-based sales roles, these ranges include base pay and sales target incentives combined.
