Data Analyst I - Higher Education
Job Summary: The Data Analyst will assist with preparing, analyzing, and reporting on higher education and related datasets to support research and strategic decision-making. Responsibilities include creating dashboards, generating reports, and helping integrate large, diverse data sources for longitudinal analysis and actionable insights. The role involves supporting ETL processes to maintain data accuracy, applying descriptive statistical methods, and presenting findings that enable cross-sector collaboration and continuous improvement in higher education services. This position requires coordination with other analysts and data professionals and ensuring consistency across multiple data sources.
Duties/Responsibilities: • Assist in preparing and analyzing higher education datasets to support research and reporting needs. • Support data collection, acquisition, and maintenance processes to ensure accuracy and integrity. • Apply critical thinking to interpret data requests and provide clear, descriptive analysis. • Create dashboards, reports, and visualizations for internal and external stakeholders. • Help integrate large, diverse datasets for longitudinal analysis and actionable insights. • Assist with ETL processes and basic data quality checks to maintain consistency across sources. • Collaborate with internal teams and client stakeholders to ensure alignment and support cross-sector data initiatives. • Maintain documentation for processes and data sources to ensure sustainability. • Other duties as assigned Data Analytics • Work with relational databases and curated datasets for analysis. • Implement analytics dashboards and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, R Shiny). • Perform routine QA/QC checks and monitor data quality using established KPIs. • Conduct exploratory analysis and prepare summary reports for decision-making.
Required Skills/Abilities: • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present information clearly. • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; comfortable working with diverse stakeholders. • Proven organizational and time management skills with attention to detail. • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). • Knowledge of higher education data systems and related datasets. • Familiarity with data analysis techniques and basic data mining concepts. • Coding experience in Python, R, SQL, or similar languages. • Passion for discovering insights in large datasets and collaborating with stakeholders to improve outcomes.
Education and Experience: • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline. • 2+ years of experience working in a data consulting role solving business problems through data analysis • Experience with SQL and other data querying tools. • Experience creating dashboards and reports using tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
